Media Matters has weathered powerful attacks on the remainder of its perceived credibility; the past month has seen a volley from the Daily Caller, now Alan Dershowtiz has made good on his promise to war with the propaganda site.

“I don’t know whether President Obama has any idea that Media Matters has turned the corner against Israel in this way,” Dershowitz said. “I can tell you this: He will know very shortly because I am beginning a serious campaign on this issue and I will not let it drop until and unless Rosenberg is fired from Media Matters, or Media Matters changes its policy or the White House disassociates itself from Media Matters.”

Today Dershowitz landed the first blow with his New York Daily News editorial:

AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) fares even worse: “Saying AIPAC is guilty of dual loyalty is giving it credit for one more loyalty than it holds.”

In other words, this widely respected American organization, and the hundreds of thousands of Jews (and Christians) who support it, have absolutely no loyalty to our nation; their sole loyalty is to the foreign nation of Israel.

This false accusation of disloyalty to country was a central tenet of Nazism, Stalinism and other anti-Semitic regimes. Today, it is the mantra of Jew haters and neo-Nazis.

So who is spouting this hateful rhetoric today?

I first came across some of these vile quotes about “Israel firsters” and “dual loyalty” on an actual neo-Nazi website. Surprisingly, however, they were attributed not to the usual suspects, but to a spokesman for Media Matters, a hard left Democratic media attack and watchdog group that started out as an antidote to Fox News, and that still has close connections to the Obama White House.

The author of these hateful quotes is MJ Rosenberg, who is the senior foreign policy fellow of Media Matters

Dershowitz tells the President that he should distance himself from Media Matters:

The President should quickly dissociate himself and his administration from Rosenberg’s hate speech. And unless Media Matters fires Rosenberg, the President should also distance himself from Media Matters.

The question becomes whether or not the Obama camp finds it advantageous to continue use of Media Matters as its attack dog. Has the site become a political liability? The site thus far has been an embarrassment with pettiness and hyperbole permeating every post. Their baseless attacks on political enemies they wish to blacklist has earned them the reputation as modern-day book burners. Their mission of correcting “conservative misinformation” has been refuted countless times by numerous outlets. They exist to run defense for elected Democrats and influence the progressive media with talking points from the White House.

What says the White House? Furthermore, when will Media Matters correct the “conservative misinformation” in the Daily Callerpieces — and will they correct Dershowitz, a liberal?
