The lucky recipient isn’t dead yet, but someday will be. There isn’t even a winner yet. The “free funeral” isn’t an act of charity for some faithful but indigent fan’ it is  a contest dreamed up by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, a minor league baseball team eager to show their dedicated fans some appreciation.

CBS Philly reports that IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes said in a press release, “The best fans in Minor League Baseball deserve the opportunity to win a once-in-a-lifetime giveaway.”

The funereal prize will be valued in the $10,000 range and include “a casket, as well as the services of a funeral director and staff, body removal and preparation (such as embalming or cremation), a funeral ceremony, graveside services, and the use of a hearse to move the body. There will also be a headstone provided, as well as a floral arrangement.”
