On Monday, Fox News contributor and retired Marine Lt. Col. Bill Cowan told Breitbart News that ESPN commentator Kevin Blackistone’s comments on the national anthem are “outrageously disrespectful.” Blackistone said on last Wednesday’s Around the Horn on ESPN that the national anthem was a “war anthem” and should not be played before sporting events. “When you have military flyovers and the military symbolism that goes on in sports, I think you’ve got a problem.,” Blackistone said.
Cowan stated, “His comments are outrageously disrespectful to the millions of men and women who throughout our history have served this great nation in one capacity or another, and to those brave souls who paid the ultimate sacrifice to defend the freedoms we all enjoy today. Blackistone is a beneficiary of those freedoms, but it’s apparent he has no clue from whence they came.”
TruthRevolt has started a petition calling on ESPN to apologize for the comments.
