Fmr Obama Car Czar: Gruber Was 'Important Figure' in the White House

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” former Obama “car czar” Steve Rattner, the lead adviser of Obama’s task force on the Auto Industry during the automaker bailouts of 2009, challenged the White House’s line that embattled ObamaCare architect Jonathan Gruber was not a player in the crafting of the ObamaCare legislation.

“I think if you go back and look at The Washington Post or The New York Times or anything from that period, you find Jonathan Gruber’s name all over it as both someone, you know, who is a leading expert saying expert on health care quoted by everybody, someone who the White House was using. I don’t think we knew the dollar numbers he was paid at the time. But he was certainly – I remember that when I was in the White House, he was certainly viewed as an important figure in helping to put ObamaCare together. And so it’s exactly what you said – the problem is not that Gruber helped him put ObamaCare together. He was the man. The problem is what he said in the last two weeks and how the White House is handling it.”
