Obama: If We Can’t Trust Government, We’re Going To Have Some Problems

So Obama tells us in the wake of Fast and Furious, Benghazi, IRS, EPA, AP/James Rosen and now NSA scandals, if we can’t trust our government – we’re going to have some problems.

I have a question. If the NSA is spying on every single American “to keep us safe”, why have they done such a shabby job of it?

After the Patriot Act was put into place following 9/11, there were no more successful terrorist attacks on American soil. Not until Obama came into office.

Obama’s “warped and distorted” interpretation of the Patriot Act has expanded it – leading to the indiscriminate collection of everyone’s phone records and online activity.

Yet if the information gathering is designed to find patterns of phone calls and suspicious online behavior in order to prevent terrorist attacks,  why did Obama’s NSA fail to prevent so many terrorist attacks on American soil?

The following attacks either succeeded in killing Americans, or were thwarted by quick thinking Americans:

May 2009, Binghamton NY: N.Y. Shooting Massacre

June 2009, Little Rock, AR: Military Recruiting Center Shooting

November 2009, Fort Hood, TX:Fort Hood Gunman Who Killed 12, Wounded 30 Survived Gun Battle

December 2009, Detroit, MI: Panty-bomber, Northwest Airlines Flight 253

March, 2010: John Patrick Bedell, a Muslim convert, shot and wounded two Pentagon police officers at a security checkpoint in the Pentagon station of the Washington Metro transit system in Arlington County, Va.

May 2010, NYC: Faisal Shahzad, Times Square Attack

October 2010: Chicago synagogues discovered explosives packed inside two printer cartridges shipped by cargo planes from al-Qaida in Yemen.

September 2012: Benghazi terror attack on US Consulate in Libya

April 2013: The Boston Marathon bombing

With the NSA’s massive counterterrorist dragnet in place, how on earth did they miss Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s phone records and suspicious online activity?

Since the earliest days of Obama’s presidency, he has downplayed the threat of Islamic terrorism while DHS under Napolitano has focused on “right-wing extremists.”

We’ve learned since then that conservatives have been targeted for harassment by the IRS, EPA, FBI, ATF and OSHA.

Is it such a stretch to say that the NSA under Obama would target his political enemies, too?

The ideologically simpatico  mainstream media has let them get away with much of this. Even on the domestic spying front, the media allowed itself to get scooped by a British newspaper. But as Glenn Greenwald told Piers Morgan on CNN, last night, that may have been due to the Regime’s bullying tactics.

“It’s well past time that we have a debate about whether that’s the kind of country and world in which we want to live,” Greenwald said on CNN. “We haven’t had that debate because it’s all done in secrecy and the Obama administration has been very aggressive about bullying and threatening anybody who thinks about exposing it or writing about it or even doing journalism about it. It’s well past time that that come to an end.”

As a patriotic, Constitution-loving proponent of limited government – everything this current administration despises – all I can say is this:

It’s not government per se, that I don’t trust Mr. President. It’s you. You and your like minded cohorts.
