On Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Monday, outgoing Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) talked about his prospects as a 2016 Republican presidential candidate.
HANNITY: Alright, you’re done when?
PERRY: January of 2015.
HANNITY: You running – for president?
PERRY: Sorry to say, I told you I gave up on running. I’m riding a bike now.
HANNITY: That’s a good line. But are you thinking about running for president?
PERRY: I’m keeping the option open — absolutely.
HANNITY: And you want to take what happened in Texas, you want to take that story around the country and say can you do that on a national basis?
PERRY: 2014 is the real focus now. And that is the message we’re taking into Iowa, where Terry Branstad is going to win going away.
HANNITY: You going to mention New Hampshire and South Carolina next?
PERRY: We’ll be in South Carolina. I don’t know if we’re going to be in New Hampshire or not. Chances are that is a state that obviously will be receptive to that message about freedom. I mean, ‘live free or die,’ they get it in New Hampshire.
