John Paul Stevens: I Don’t Think We Should Increase the Number of Justices

During an interview with CNN broadcast on Tuesday’s “New Day,” former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens disagreed with the idea of increasing the number of justices on the Supreme Court and argued that “the court will straighten itself out.”

Interviewer John Berman asked, “You’re hearing some Democrats talk about court packing again, putting more justices than the nine. What’s your view on that?”

Stevens responded, “I don’t think they should do that. I think, in time, the court will straighten itself out. It may take longer, but I don’t think the answer is increasing the number of justices.”
