In a recent article posted on Glenn Beck’s website entitled “Music and Art Pave the Way for a Cultural Restoration,” Beck says:

It’s been a long time since anything in the culture really represented something that you believe in. The most popular shows on television don’t reflect your values. Musicians don’t inspire with their art but appeal to the more base and repulsive elements of our culture (seriously, listen to the lyrics to some of the Top 40 songs). And, sadly, we haven’t done anything about it (emphasis added). The left now owns the culture, and conservative cultural icons can really only be seen in big numbers as part of the country music scene. Most conservatives in Hollywood and in music, with few exceptions, are left hiding in the shadows, keeping their viewpoints out of the spotlight. Until now.

WE “haven’t done anything about it“? Mr. Beck you are light years behind Mr. Breitbart who always said “Culture is upstream of politics.” You have some catching up to do. We have, indeed, been doing something about it, but the support from “mainstream” conservatives has been underwhelming to say the least.

We are excited many are realizing changing our politics in this country and changing our culture go hand and hand and are jumping on the culture war bandwagon. We’ve been at it for two years at BigDawg Music Mafia, a free online community (no premium subscriptions required) for Conservative/Libertarian artists, providing a “one-stop-shop” to find talent and services offered by fellow Americans wanting to do their part to change our culture. The majority of our fellow “Dawgers” are grassroots, independent, self-producing, self-marketing artists who are telling the real story of the TEA Party – our time and place in history.

This Culture Revolution is long overdue. Some shy away from the words “conservative”and “revolution” (which by definition means: “a drastic change in ways of thinking and behaving”). We challenge anyone to deny that is EXACTLY what is needed in our culture today and wear the “conservative” label proudly.

Has it been easy? As easy as herding cats.

Garnering support from those with the largest megaphones has been THE biggest challenge. Terrestrial radio stations won’t play what the artists offer and “mainstream” conservative media personalities show no interest – some saying our messages are too controversial with words like “Freedom,” “Liberty” and all that silly stuff about our Constitution. We’ve heard everything from “Conservatives are not creative and have no talent” to “You’re going about this all wrong; you need to be more subtle and vague, move our culture slowly.”

BigDawg Brigader, singer/songwriter, and radio host Tom Balistreri encourages us to look over the long list of quotes in his blog entitled “You Have An Idea, But You’re Being Told You Can’t Do It That Way” in which he highlights things that have been said over the years in an effort to dissuade forward-thinking individuals from pursuing their ideas. Here are just two examples:

“I’m just glad it’ll be Clark Gable who’s falling on his face and not Gary Cooper.” — Gary Cooper on his decision not to take the leading role in “Gone With the Wind.”

“The wireless music box has no imaginable commercial value. Who would pay for a message sent to nobody in particular?” — David Sarnoff’s associates in response to his urgings for investment in the radio in the 1920s.

Tom adds: “Fortunately someone believed in what they were doing enough not to listen to them either.

As we approach our two-year anniversary next month, we are excited to share some cool initiatives we are undertaking to branch out and provide more venues to help “unleash” all the great talent of our fellow Dawgers.

In addition to the radio shows we’ve been airing every week as part of our “Operation Occupy Airwaves” initiative, we have been hosting live shows on our BigDawg Live Open Mic – “Off the Cuff ‘n’ Ruff Show” where artists stream live video performances from their homes to our site and interact with the audience in our Culture Warrior Chat Room. We will be hosting future live shows on our new BigDawg TEA-V channel on iBroadcast TV (a new video broadcasting platform founded by CEO Sam Rahimi) where viewers can enjoy non-stop, commercial-free music videos by our member artists and recordings of their live performances with plenty more to come.

This Friday, we will be launching what we believe will be the first Internet radio station to ONLY feature music and pop-culture related shows by Conservative/Libertarian artists 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will kick off with the first live broadcast of our weekly top 10 countdown, “Culture Warriors & The Fan Jam” at 9 p.m. EST. BigDawg Music Radio will provide yet another venue for our fellow artists at BigDawg Music Mafia to get their messages heard.

Additionally, we will air three live shows every week on our station from the following BigDawg DJs:

“Culture is (indeed) upstream of politics.” How can you help? Spread the word. We need aggressive “Keyboard Warriors” who believe in our mission.

We have no reservations in saying the cumulative level of talent at our site could easily rival many commercial, “mainstream,” multi-media ventures in the entertainment industry today. We salute all these fine Culture Warriors who are doing their part to “Keep Hope Alive.”
