Her Majesty The Queen has delivered her traditional Christmas message from Buckingham Palace. In her broadcast she talked about the sacrifice of the Armed Forces and the importance of reconciliation at Christmas.

On the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I she also talked about the poppy display at the Tower of London, and the legendary informal truce on Christmas day 1914. The broadcast ended with a rendition of Silent Night. It was German soldiers singing the carol that began the truce.
