The White House is signaling that President Obama wants to travel to Cuba during his presidency.

“You could still characterize this as a presidential aspiration,” Earnest told reporters during the White House press briefing today, hinting that such a visit would be a “another milestone in the effort to normalize the relationship between our two countries.”

Earnest later added that he didn’t see any trip to Cuba in the “near future” and clarified that he didn’t know if such a visit would actually occur before Obama left office.
