Report: Illegal Immigration To The U.S. From Caribbean Up

In the last fiscal year — which ended on Sept. 30 — U.S. authorities encountered 5,585 Haitians, 3,940 Cubans and hundreds of other nationals from the Dominican Republic and other Caribbean countries attempting to illegally enter the United States, the Coast Guard revealed in an Associated Press report.

California DMV Hires 900 New Workers To Deal With Onslaught Of Illegal Immigrant Drivers

The California Department of Motor Vehicles has hired some 900 new employees and opened four new license processing centers to deal with the expected onslaught of undocumented immigrants who will be eligible for a driver’s license this new year. Starting Friday, under a new law requiring the California DMV to provide illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, the state DMV is bracing for the newly eligible applicants.

Immigrants detained illegally entering Arizona across the southern border are becoming more likely to lash out aggressively at the Border Patrol agents who stop them, according to the president of the union that represents agents in the state. “Now, when we stop two or three people, often we find that, at least, one of them is aggressive,” he said.
