AFP: When Barack Obama left the US Senate to become the 44th president of the United States, his seat was given by Illinois’ state governor — in a highly controversial move — to Roland Burris. Now it is being vacated once again, and the neck-and-neck race to fill it between Republican Congressman Mark Kirk and Democrat Alexi Giannoulias, the state treasurer, is brutal.
