On Tuesday, during NewsNation’s special “John Stossel Confronts Socialism,” NewsNation host Elizabeth Vargas said that Democratic Michigan U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed has gone “a step further” than what socialism has mostly come to mean by advocating for government takeover of AI companies.
Vargas stated, “[S]ocialism can be a slippery term, especially when conjoined with that word democratic. And today, it’s come mostly to mean more government programs. Today’s democratic socialists take it a step further. Here’s Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed advocating for the government to take over AI companies.”
After playing video of El-Sayed, Vargas said, “Alright, so now we’re talking about full-on expropriation of private enterprises. Does it surprise you to hear that coming from him — a full-on — he wants to take over the company entirely?”
