Actor and Registered Sex Offender Scrubbed from Shane Black’s ‘The Predator’

Twentieth Century Fox removed a scene from the upcoming action thriller The Predator after the actor featured in the scene’s sex offender conviction was revealed.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Steven Wilder Striegel, an actor in the movie The Predator, was taken out of the film after it was revealed by actress Olivia Munn that he was a registered sex offender.

In 2010, Striegel pled guilty to trying to start a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl over the internet.

The role that Striegel was playing in the movie was also strange given his past. The Times reports that he was cast as a “jogger who repeatedly hits on Munn’s character.”

Striegel apparently ended up in the film because he was friends with the veteran director, Shane Black. Following his removal from the film, Black explained, “I personally chose to help a friend. I can understand others might disapprove, as his conviction was on a sensitive charge and not to be taken lightly.”

Since the #MeToo movement kicked off with a string of allegations against disgraced movie producer and Democrat mega-donor Harvey Weinstein last fall, Hollywood has faced increased scrutiny due to its perception of tolerance for sexual predation.

James Gunn was recently exposed and fired from directing Guardians of the Galaxy 3 due to his history of sending lewd tweets about pedophilia, among other inflammatory topics.

Gunn once tweeted things like, “I remember my first NAMBLA meeting. It was the first time I felt ok being who I am,” and “I like it when little boys touch me in my silly place.”

The Predator lands in theaters everywhere on Sept. 14.
