TEL AVIV – A Druze security guard shot and killed a Palestinian terrorist after the latter fatally stabbed an Israeli woman in the West Bank on Monday.

Akhsan Kherev, a local security guard, said he arrived at the scene after hearing local residents shout that there were terrorists next to a grocery store in the settlement of Beit Horon.

“I started running towards the grocery store, people told me the [terrorists] had gone in the direction of the fence,” Kherev told Israeli radio 103FM.

“I started to run again, I saw two terrorists hiding behind cardboard boxes near the fence. I circled them and got within 15 feet of them. One of the terrorists threw three or four pipe bombs at me that didn’t explode.

“Both of them attacked me with knives, so I eliminated them. There was another security man nearby who helped me.”

Kherev is from a Druze village in Israel’s north. Having served in the IDF in Nablus, the married father of two says he is all too familiar with the conflict with the Palestinians.

However, he added, “I don’t wish to discuss the security situation.”

On Tuesday, 23-year-old Shlomit Krigman died from the wounds she sustained during the knife attack. Another woman, Adina Cohen, was also injured.

Krigman was buried in a Jerusalem cemetery in a plot that was close to that of Dafna Meir, the nurse and mother of six who was stabbed and killed in front of her children last week.

With no reference to either the victims or the terrorists, the UK’s Guardian newspaper reported Krigman’s murder with a headline that read: “Two Palestinians shot dead after knife attack in West Bank shop.”
