More than 100 firefighters battle blaze at London hotel

June 6 (UPI) — A fire erupted Wednesday at London’s Mandarin Oriental, just days after it completed a multi-million dollar renovation.

The London Fire Brigade said in a statement 20 fire engines and 120 firefighters and officers fought the fire.

No injuries were initially reported.

“Thank you for your messages and for thinking of us,” the Mandarin Oriental said on Twitter.

The luxury hotel is located between Hyde Park and the Knightsbridge shopping district.

Fire officials said the hotel was evacuated by staff. London Ambulance Service said in a statement it sent multiple crews.

The cause is under investigation.
