Iowa Republican Rep. Steven A. King told Breitbart News Tuesday that as the 115th session of Congress opens, he is more confident he will succeed in passing conservative priorities than at any time since he entered Congress in 2003.
The chairman of the House Freedom Caucus Tuesday told Breitbart News the entire GOP Conference is united as it begins the real test of passing legislation to unleash the economy.
The Texas Republican congressman, who with two other colleagues proposed a revision of the 2011 ban on legislative earmarks, withdrew his proposal at Wednesday’s House Republican Conference meeting.
“This is an historic moment to have Republican control of House,Senate and presidency and I believe that the people, who came to the polls sent a clear mandate that they want change here in Washington–drain the swamp,” Walker says. “We need to be talking about unifying and earmarks are another divisive issue,” he said.
Capitol Hill conservatives and outside groups are resisting a last ditch effort by House Republicans to bring back the practice of earmarks on Wednesday, when their conference votes on rules for the next session of Congress.
