During CNN’s coverage of the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, commentator Van Jones stated that American Muslims for Trump head Sajid Tarar was “a Muslim who was apparently afraid to say the word ‘Allah.'”

Jones said, “[T]he last speaker, he was a Muslim, and I thought it was odd. First of all, he’s a Muslim who was apparently afraid to say the word ‘Allah.’ he was a Muslim who did not address at all the fears that so many people in his community have. And so, I — for me that was a jarring moment, to see an american Muslim come out, thank goodness, you expect to hear something that may be a bomb, or — but he doesn’t even speak in the — frankly, the cadence of his faith. I thought that was weird.”
