Celebrities Slammed for Not Being Politically Correct in Hollywood

A media researcher thinks political correctness in Hollywood is ‘running amok,’ as more celebrities are being ridiculed and blacklisted for turning to social media to voice their opinions.

Even this past week, Robin Williams was accused of being ‘racist’ after Billy Crystal paid tribute to the late comedian at the Emmys. Crystal streamed a video of the comic making a hijab with a scarf and saying “Welcome to Iran… help me.”

Social media became the platform for backlash following Crystal’s presentation.

“I think Robin Williams was kind of racist. Thanks Emmys,” read one tweet.

“America has always believed in free speech,” said Dan Gainer, who is the vice president of business and culture at the Media Research Center. “But watching careers end or having nuts call Robin Williams racist over a joke is going too far.”

“More actors and actresses will be blacklisted. Twitter will ruin careers,” he continued.

A producer from BET was also recently suspended for making a joke about Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy, during a radio broadcast.

“I really did wake up like this, because my parents never comb my hair,” said the producer.

BET’s president of music programming and specials has since apologized for the remark on Twitter.

Not everyone is bold enough to speak out though, and Jon Voight thinks many celebrities keep the peace because they fear the thought of losing work.

“There are people who take that seriously, who feel that there jobs might be at risk if they step out,” he told CNN in 2008.

Hollywood democrats have since crucified Voight, calling him a “wingnut,” and demanded that he be blacklisted for speaking freely.

The late Andrew Breitbart took to CNN to defend Voight after he was attacked and threatened over his political standing.

“There are a bunch of conservatives here in Hollywood and I hope that they have the freedom to speak openly and not fear reprisal from the industry which leans so hard to the left,” Breitbart said.

The Academy Award winning actor hasn’t let anyone get in his way and continues to be a strong political activist in tinsel town.
