According to The Washington Post’s Erik Wemple, shortly after news broke in May of the breach of CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson’s computer, the justice Department released the following statement:
To our knowledge, the Justice Department has never compromised Ms. Attkisson’s computers, or otherwise sought any information from or concerning any telephone, computer, or other media device she may own or use.
UPDATE: This post has been updated to clarify that the Justice Department’s statement claim came after Attkisson’s original claims of being hacked back in May.
