Friday Free For All: Washington Edition

Today, in 1783, Washington gave his farewell address to his officers at Fraunces Tavern in New York City. The tavern was owned by Samuel Fraunces, a free black from Dominica. He would later accept Washington’s invitation to be Chief Steward at the President’s residence.
