France’s world downhill champion Marion Rolland injured her right knee in a training fall on Sunday, the French skiing federation (FFS) said.
The 30-year-old will undergo an MRI scan in France after suffering the injury in the Nevados de Chillan in Chile.
Rolland, who won the world title in Schladming, Austria, earlier this year, is one of the favourites for gold at the 2014 Sochi Olympics which start in February.
She has twice undergone surgery to repair damaged ligaments on the same knee in 2007 and 2010.
The second surgery followed a fall in the downhill at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.
