Bruges' Leekens sunk by minor Hazard

Chelsea’s Belgian international midfield star Eden Hazard took to social media on Monday to congratulate his younger brother, whose weekend goalscoring exploits led to the sacking of FC Bruges coach Georges Leekens.

“Kid bro is too hot – thanks, little brother,” Hazard wrote on his Twitter account after Thorgan Hazard neted the only goal in Zulte-Waregem’s win over Bruges.

Bruges dismissed Leekens — with whom Eden Hazard had difficult relations during the latter’s stint in charge of the national team — after a fourth straight league defeat.

Leekens felt on occasion that Hazard did not pull his weight and use his talent to the full — but the pair also fell out over a hamburger.

The then Lille star found himself suspended for three matches, later reduced to one, after being caught munching a hamburger outside the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels before the final whistle of a Euro 2012 qualifier against Turkey during which he had been substituted.

Hazard enjoys better relations with Marc Wilmots, who succeeded Leekens as national coach last summer.
