Two more arrested in Savile abuse investigation

Police investigating allegations of abuse linked to late BBC television presenter Jimmy Savile have arrested two more people, they said Wednesday.

A man aged 53 was arrested in Hampshire while a 59-year-old man was being held in west London, both on suspicion of sexual offences, the Metropolitan Police said.

The allegations against them are not directly related to Savile.

Police carrying out Operation Yewtree have so far questioned 10 people including former pop star Gary Glitter, comedian Freddie Starr and public relations executive Max Clifford.

Last month, police said that 589 people had come forward with information in the inquiry, of which 450 related to Savile, mainly alleging sex abuse.
