VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The latest on the deadly sinking of a whale watching boat with 27 people on board off Vancouver Island (all times local):

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond says five U.K. nationals were killed when a whale watching boat sank off Vancouver Island in western Canada.

Hammond expressed “deep sadness” in a statement and said his thoughts are “with the family and friends of all those affected by this terrible accident.”

One person remains missing after the boat sank on a calm and sunny day off the tourist community of Tofino. Twenty-one people were rescued.
