KARMIEL, Israel, July 3 (UPI) —

Opgal, an Israeli thermal imaging company, has signed a contract with Elbit Systems of America to produce advanced enhanced vision systems.

Opgal’s advanced thermal imaging and optics technology will be integrated into Elbit Systems of America’s next generation EVS.

"We are proud to continue partnering with Elbit Systems of America in delivering the market’s most advanced and highly used EVS," said Amit Mattatia, president and chief executive officer of Opgal. "This clearly demonstrates our capabilities in developing and bringing to market innovative, sophisticated, high-quality solutions, and it further establishes Opgal as a thermal imaging leader."

The potential value of the contract was not provided.

Opgal’s sensing and imaging technology provides pilots with a clear picture of a runway during approach, landing and taxiing regardless of available lighting or weather conditions and is the core of Elbit Systems enhanced vision systems, which are certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency.
