On May 22 a group of Nevada Assembly Republicans revived Campus Carry for this legislative cycle.

This comes just one day after The Wall Street Journal reported that “The Nevada senate defeated an 11th-hour move to tuck campus carry into a broader firearms measure, likely dooming the effort this year.” Ironically, “most” of the Republicans who revived Campus Carry on May 22 are among the number of those who killed it in the form in which it was presented on May 21.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “seven Assembly Republicans introduced Assembly Bill 487 on Friday.” If passed, AB487 will “allow concealed weapon permit holders to carry concealed guns on college campuses and store firearms in locked cars.”

Campus Carry was defeated in Florida during the current legislative session, but it is still moving forward in Texas, where the Open Carry of handguns is expected to be legalized as well.

On May 12 Oklahoma legalized arming teachers and staff members on public school campuses in that state. Breitbart News reported that Oklahoma representative Jeff Coody (R-Dist. 63) argued for the measure by explaining that there is really no such thing a gun free zone. Rather, there are simply zones where leftist measures prevent law-abiding citizens from being armed for self-defense.
