Vanity Fair Plans to Publish 'Epic Takedown' of Gwyneth Paltrow

Consumers have come to expect fawning celebrity profiles in their favorite magazines. Actors get to promote their latest projects while the magazines get beautiful people to grace their glossy pages.

Vanity Fair threatens to shake up the cozy ties between stars and their magazine publicity partners by publishing a potentially nasty piece on an A-list actress.

The magazine began planning a feature on Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow, and shortly thereafter the Thanks for Sharing star alerted her celebrity peers not to cooperate with the feature.

The Oscar-winner started a feud with the magazine back in May when she circulated an email to her famous pals warning them to steer clear of the publication after learning they were set to run an unauthorised feature on her.

But far from backing down due to the backlash, editor Graydon Carter has revealed during a recent interview with The Times Of London that the star’s high and mighty reaction to the rumoured article has ‘sort of forced my hand’.

The story has been dubbed an “epic takedown” although details remain fuzzy.

The publication could be an isolated event, but if newsstand sales are brisk other publications might seek a tougher stance on its gushing celebrity stories. That, in turn, could make stars wary of sitting down with journalists for future profile pieces.
