Texas Police Seize AK-47, Other Guns From Shooting Suspects

HOUSTON, Texas – Police officers in Houston seized an AK-47 rifle and several handguns from a vehicle driven by suspects in a shooting that occurred in the southwest part of the city.

Houston police officers responded to a call of shots fired at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday. The suspects fled the scene of the shooting. About a half-hour later, a Houston Police Department tactical unit found the suspects’ vehicle and conducted a search of the car, KTRK ABC13 reported.

During the search of the 4-door sedan, police found several handguns and a modified AK-47 rifle, according to the Houston Chronicle. Officers also found a stolen cell phone.

The three suspects were arrested and are expected to face charges of felony possession of a firearm and evading arrest.

No injuries were reported from the shooting. Police offered no description of the suspects or motivation behind the shooting that occurred in an area that is known for drug and gang-related activity. News photos from the scene showed at least one black male in handcuffs.
