Activists lined up outside the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to protest the separation of families and the ongoing illegal immigration crackdown by the Trump Administration.

For the protest, dozens of activists blocked the street along one of Mexico City’s main roads called Reforma Avenue not far from the famed statue of the Independence Angel outside of the U.S. Embassy. Reforma Avenue in Mexico City is the scene of almost daily protests by different political groups.

A video shared on social media shows a group of women chanting in Spanish “no to fences, children to classrooms.”

The protest comes one day after a Mexican Congressional Committee called for the country to stop helping the U.S. in national security matters, immigration, and border security, Breitbart Texas reported. The move by the congressmen follows Mexico’s Foreign Relations minister Luis Videgaray’s labeling the separation of families a “human rights violation.”
