WATCH: Bryan Cranston Is LBJ in Trailer for HBO’s ‘All the Way’

HBO has released its latest trailer for its political drama All the Way, which stars Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) as U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.

All the Way follows Johnson’s “tumultuous” first year in office after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963.

The official synopsis, from HBO Films: “Staking his presidency on what would be an historic, unprecedented Civil Rights Act, Johnson finds himself caught between the moral imperative of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the expectations of the southern Democratic Party leaders who brought Johnson to power.”

The film also stars Anthony Mackie as Martin Luther King Jr., Bradley Whitford as Hubert Humphrey, Melissa Leo as Lady Bird Johnson, Stephen Root as J. Edgar Hoover, Frank Langella as Senator Richard Russell, and Todd Weeks as Walter Jenkins.

Jay Roach (Trumbo) directs off of a script from Robert Schenkkan (Hacksaw Ridge, The Pacific). Steven Spielberg executive produced the project.

Cranston won a Tony award for his portrayal of LBJ in the Broadway adaptation of All the Way in 2014.

The film comes to HBO on May 21. Watch the extended trailer above.
