The 2015 J-Bay Open surf competition in South Africa saw three-time world champion Mick Fanning take to the waters on Sunday. It was expected that the Australian would battle Julian Wilson for the crown, but little did Fanning know he would have a bigger challenge on his hands and nearly on his legs.

Fanning was attacked by a shark but was unharmed, punching it to defend himself.
