TEL AVIV – Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, slammed “Bolshevik” leftists for calling the right “Nazis” over the newly passed nation-state law.

“The nastiness of the left-wing ‘Bolsheviks’ labeling of the right (which is the real liberal camp in Israel) as ‘Nazis’ and ‘fascists’ is nothing new,” Netanyahu Jr. posted on Facebook and Twitter.

“After all, they also called Ze’ev Jabotinsky ‘Vladimir Hitler,’” he added, referring to the pre-state Zionist leader.

His remarks come amid some vocal opposition to the law, which, among other things, ratifies the preexisting notion of Israel as “the national home of the Jewish people.” Nothing in the text of the legislation affects the country’s other Basic Laws providing equal rights to all citizens.

More than 50,000 people rallied in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square on Saturday night in support of the Druze community, which has criticized the bill for being discriminatory towards it as a historically patriotic segment of Israeli society.

The George Soros-financed New Israel Fund (NIF), an anti-Israel NGO, is facing scrutiny in Israel over its reported promotion of organized opposition to the law.

As Breitbart Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein notes, the NIF’s ties to the mass protest became an issue in part after Prime Minister Netanyahu shared an article on Facebook reporting on the NIF’s alleged connections to the Tel Aviv rally.

The report, from Israel’s Mida magazine, documented that the Forum Against the Nation-State Law, which organized the Rabin Square protest, is purportedly sponsored by the leftist Anu group, which in turn is listed as a grantee of the NIF.

Daniel Sokatch, CEO of the New Israel Fund, issued a divisive statement calling the legislation “tribalism at its worst,” a “slap in the face to Arab Palestinian citizens of Israel,” and a “danger to Israel’s future.”

Sokatch vowed the NIF and its grantees would fight: “This law is a danger to Israel’s future. And no matter what extremist politicians do, the New Israel Fund and our grantees will stand up for the democratic, equitable and shared society all Israelis deserve.”

Sokatch, writing on the NIF’s website, used the nation-state law to rally supporters.

In a piece titled, “What’s Next After the Nation-State Law,” Sokatch called for resistance.

Yair Netanyahu got himself in hot water last year when he posted a cartoon of Soros, the Illuminati and a lizard creature, an apparent critique of the corruption scandals plaguing his parents as being part of a conspiracy.
