UAE Designates Islamic Group That Hosted National Cathedral Prayers as Terrorist Organization

The United Arab Emirates declared over the weekend that their country recognizes two America-based Islamic groups as terror organizations.

The organizations: the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim American Society (MAS), both have deep connections to the global Muslim Brotherhood.

The UAE, which is arguably America’s closest Arab ally in the Middle East, listed CAIR and the MAS in its newly designated terrorist organizations list, along with ISIS and Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, and other Muslim Brotherhood entities.

Emirates News Agency reported:

The UAE Cabinet has approved a list of designated terrorist organisations and groups in implementation of Federal Law No. 7 for 2014 on combating terrorist crimes, issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Cabinet’s own resolution on the designation of terrorist organisations that provided for the publication of the lists in the media for the purposes of transparency and to raise awareness in society about these organisations.

CAIR was one of the organizers of the first ever Muslim prayers at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. on Friday. The 2008 Holy Land Foundation trial documented CAIR as a Muslim Brotherhood front group, and as unindicted co-conspirators in the largest terrorism financing case in U.S. history. Federal documents described the goal of Muslim Brotherhood front groups such as CAIR: “to wage a grand jihad in eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within…”

The FBI determined that CAIR was clandestinely a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee, which helped to raise funds for terrorist groups such as Gaza-based Hamas.

Breitbart News was at the national cathedral over the weekend, where the prominent institution held its first Muslim prayer service, which was unprecedentedly closed to the public. Breitbart News was the only media outlet that asked the organizers whether they were troubled by the allegations of the five groups’ closeness with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Both the Dean of the National Cathedral, Gary Hall, and event organizer, Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool, told Breitbart News that they viewed the Muslim Brotherhood as the legitimately elected government of Egypt. Furthermore, neither would condemn the group, even when Breitbart News informed them about its early connections to Nazi leaders such as Adolf Hitler, and how terrorist leaders such as Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi were all members of the Brotherhood. Instead of condemning the Brotherhood, the faith leaders denounced Breitbart News as an “extremist” and “McCarthyite” organization, simply for asking questions about the five Muslim groups’ established connection to the Muslim Brotherhood.
