Firefighters help lower bear from Michigan tree

June 11 (UPI) — Firefighters in northern Michigan shared video from an unusual call where they helped rescue a black bear that stranded itself in a tree.

The Roscommon Township Fire Department said in a Facebook post that crews were called Sunday morning to help the Michigan Department of Natural Resources with a bruin situation.

The department said firefighters responded to a tree in nearby Denton Township, where the bear was spotted in a high tree branch.

The bear was tranquilized and firefighters helped lower the animal back down to the ground.
