March 18 (UPI) — James McAvoy is set to star in a new show based on Meantime.

British network Sky said in a press release Wednesday that it is adapting the Frankie Boyle crime thriller novel as a six-part series.

McAvoy, 46, will play Felix McAveety, an addict who becomes the suspect in his best friend’s murder.

“In a fog of intoxication and paranoia, Felix sets out to clear his name, enlisting the help of an aging former Detective Inspector turned crime novelist (Josette Simon) and a chaotic friend (Jamie Michie). Their search for the truth becomes an exhilarating and frequently laugh-out-loud race through the murkier edges of contemporary Scotland, as events rapidly spiral out of control around him,” an official synopsis reads.

Other cast members include Shauna MacDonald, Janine Harouni, Christopher Eccleston, Mark Bonnar, Shirley Henderson and Benedict Wong, along with McAvoy’s sister, actress Joy McAvoy.
