Montmeló (Spain) (AFP) – Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheets in the first of two days of testing in Barcelona on Tuesday, with world championship leader Nico Rosberg of Mercedes going second-quickest.
Four-time world champion Vettel and his fellow German Rosberg both set their fastest times on soft tyres, with McLaren’s Jenson Button slower depsite using the super softs.
Rosberg holds a 43-point lead from team-mate and defending champion Lewis Hamilton in the drivers’ standings, after they both crashed out at the Circuit de Catalunya as Red Bull teenager Max Verstappen won the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday.
