Rand Paul: We Need Guns in '100 Percent' of Airplane Cockpits

Speaking on April 10, Senator Rand Paul said we need guns in “100 percent” of the cockpits of American flights.

According to Politico, Paul introduced a bill the goal of which is to have “100 percent of American pilots armed because [he] thinks it’s a very cost effective” way of deterring terrorist attacks. In fact, he thinks it is the most “cost effective way of deterring another attack on our planes.”

Sen. Paul said he wants to find “the most cost effective way of preventing another 9/11” and believes having all pilots armed is part of it.

Paul said Obama has “zeroed” armed pilots out of his budget and “advocated…getting rid of the program.”

He said pilots come up to him all the time and say “it’s too hard to get a permit” to carry a gun in the cockpit and too hard hard “to keep up the permit.” Paul wants this to change.
