Just 16% of Americans would be “very satisfied” if they had to choose between Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush for president.
A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll also found that majorities would feel either “uncertain” or “pessimistic” if either Bush or Clinton wins White House in 2016.
The poll found that only 20% would feel “optimistic” or “confident” if Clinton were elected president while 20% would be “somewhat hopeful.” But 15% would feel “uncertain” if Clinton were elected while 35% would feel “pessimistic” or “worried.”
Just 10% of Americans would feel “optimistic” or “confident” if Bush became the third member of his family to occupy the White House while 17% would feel “somewhat hopeful.” But 31% would feel “uncertain” and 30% would feel “pessimistic” or “worried” if Bush were elected.
Roughly half of Americans said they would be either “fairly” or “just somewhat” satisfied with a Bush vs. Clinton matchup while 31% said such a contest would leave them “not that satisfied.”
Clinton leads Bush 48-40 in a hypothetical general election matchup in the poll that was conducted June 14-18.
