NFC North: Bush Puts Lions in middle of 3-way with Pack, Bears

Reggie Bush (21 carries for 90 yards, 4 catches 104 yards) could be the final piece for the Lions, whose Week 1 rating was virtually even with both the Bears and Packers. The odd team out in the Week 1 ratings is Adrian Peterson’s Vikings, as the MVP cannot do it alone for the Vikings. While his highlight reel 78-yard run on his first carry looked great, the Lions did not worry about the passing game in holding him to 17 carries for 15 yards the rest of the way, and he next faces a Bears defense that that allowed only 25 yards to BenJarvus Green-Ellis in beating the Bengals. The Week 1 Ratings in the NFC North:

NFC NORTH Massey Better/Worse 1-day rank Result
Green Bay 5.9 -2 4.9 lost at SF 28-34
Detroit -2.6 12 3.4 won vs. Min 34-24
Chicago 3.4 0 3.4 won vs Cin 24-21
Minnesota 1.7 -12 -4.3 lost at Det 24-34

The 1-day rank is the average between how many points better or worse than average each team is on www.masseyratings.com and how many points better or worse the team did in that game than the expected point spread on www.masseyratings.com. A “+5.0” means the team was considered 5 points better than the average team in the league that day.
