Study: Right-to-Work Arizona Tops List of Best States for Job Growth

Because of its right-to-work law, eminent domain reform, and a pro-business regulatory environment, Arizona is expected to have the fastest job growth among U.S. states over the next five years.

Forbes’ “Best States for Business” index cited projections that indicate “Arizona is expected to have the fastest job growth at 3% annually over the next five years,” which is projected “to boost household incomes 3.6% annually through 2017.”

Forbes noted that businesses are attracted to “Arizona’s pro-business regulatory climate” in addition to “Arizona’s right-to-work law, liability laws and eminent domain reform.”

Texas, which “was one of the first states to emerge from the recession and it continues to attract companies on the basis of its low tax burden, predictable regulatory environment and skilled labor force,” came in second. Texas has attracted many business from California, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry is now even trying to poach businesses from liberal Maryland, running ads for Texas in the state.

Only two states east of the Mississippi made Forbes’ top 10 list of states with the best projected job growth. One of those states was Florida, which came in fifth behind Colorado and North Dakota.
