Maria Sharapova Set to Change Last Name to 'Sugarpova' to Promote Candy Company
Tennis star Maria Sharapova is set to change her last name to "Sugarpova" for the duration of the U.S. Open in order to promote a candy company in which she has reportedly invested nearly $500,000.
Her representatives at IMG have "asked for the name change through the Supreme Court of Florida." Her name would revert back to "Sharapova" the Monday after the U.S. Open.
And there's more:
It is believed she would also attempt to wear the logo of her firm – a pair of red lips – on her outfit during the tournament, which she won in 2006.
The Sugarpova sweets come in a number of different varieties ranging from "flirty", which feature gummy lips, to "chic", which consist of handbags, sunglasses and high heels.
