Evan Draim is a young conservative activist and current senior at St.
Stephen’s and St. Agnes high school in Alexandria, Virginia. In May
2012, Evan was elected to represent the voters of Virginia’s 8th
congressional district as the youngest delegate to the 2012 Republican
National Convention. Evan has served as the President of the
Coalition for a Conservative Future and addressed the 2010 Conservative
Political Action Conference in this capacity. As an active voice in local
Virginia politics, Evan was recently appointed to the 2013 RPV Convention
Resolutions Committee.
This filibuster represents a major soul-searching moment for the Grand Old Party. In addition to helping to move the Republican Party back towards its constitutional conservative roots by supporting the filibuster, Senator Rubio also outlined a strategy to move the party into the 21st century.

On Saturday, Virginia’s Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli, was signing copies of his new book, The Last Line of Defense, at a local Barnes and Noble in Tysons Corner. However, for the adults and children waiting in line to meet the Attorney General (and presumptive Republican gubernatorial nominee) there was no line of defense between them and the inappropriate display put on by a small group of opposing protestors.

According to the White House Office of Management and Budget, President Obama will push for a 1% salary increase for all federal employees in his 2014 budget proposal. This announcement comes on the heals of continuing bad economic news in the private sector. Reports released last month indicate that the United States economy actually shrank during the fourth quarter of 2012 with GDP falling 0.1%.
