Syrian Electronic Army Threat: 'Media Is Going Down'; Targets Twitter, NYT

The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) appears to have successfully targeted both Twitter and the New York Times today.

This was posted earlier via a Twitter account linked to SEA.

Hi @Twitter, look at your domain, its owned by #SEA :) http://whois.domaintools.com/twitter.com  pic.twitter.com/ck7brWtUhK

Meanwhile, an individual focused on Threat Research Analysis and Communications for Cisco Systems, Jaeson Schultz took to Twitter to point out that SEA appeared to be hosting new domains for the NY Times, as well as Twitter on its IP.

Earlier, SEA also Tweeted a general threat to media as a whole.

The New York Times was attacked through its registrar, Melbourne IT. The Syrian Electronic Army was able to change both contact details and domain name servers and it’s believed it may have gotten to Twitter the same way.

This story is still developing, stay tune for updates. There is additional information here and here.
