‘There’s Nothing New Here,’ Jason Miller Says About Donald Trump’s Tweets

President-elect Donald Trump’s spokesman Jason Miller responded to a series of tweets the President-elect posted on Twitter Wednesday morning about the popular vote and the electoral college. Miller says this is nothing new.

“The President-elect has been sending out a series of tweets today about the popular vote and the electoral college. Why does he feel the need to revisit that?” a reporter asked Miller during a daily conference call with reporters on Wednesday morning.

“I’ll go ahead and let those speak for themselves,” Miller responded. “This is something the President-elect has discussed both on the ‘Thank You’ rally tour that he has had and other occasions, so there’s nothing new here.”

Earlier on Wednesday morning, Trump posted three times on Twitter about the popular vote and electoral college:

Some Trump critics have cited the report that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly three million votes in an attempt to question Trump’s victory.

As Kenneth T. Walsh of U.S. News & World Report reports, “This margin won’t change the fact that Trump will become president on Jan. 20. He won a clear majority of 304 electoral votes, as certified this week, while Clinton received only 227, and the electoral vote determines the winner.”

“But the sheer margin of Clinton’s popular-vote victory is sure to intensify Democratic arguments that Trump has no mandate and really isn’t the president preferred by most Americans,” Walsh notes.
