Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland reportedly died of cardiac arrest, and a member of the late rocker’s band was arrested for possessing cocaine found on the tour bus where Weiland died.
Weiland, 48, was found unresponsive on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minn. on Dec. 3. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
The singer was set to perform with his band The Wildabouts at the Medina Entertainment Center in Hamel, Minnesota, Thursday night.
TMZ obtained audio of a call between the Bloomington police department and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department.
On the audio, emergency Dispatchers can be heard saying Weiland had likely gone into cardiac arrest.
The New York Daily News reports that police found cocaine in Weiland’s bedroom and on the tour bus where he died.
According to TMZ, The Wildabouts’ guitarist Tommy Black was arrest and charged with felony drug possession for cocaine found on the tour bus.
Officials have yet to confirm Weiland’s cause of death.
The singer had publicly battled drug addiction for most of his career. He was convicted of buying crack cocaine in 1995 and sentenced to probation. He was twice arrested for driving under the influence, in 2003 and again in 2007.
Weiland also previously struggled with a heroin addiction.
