Eight arrested over teen's Pimlico murder

Eight more people have been arrested by detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in central London, Scotland Yard said late Saturday.

Hani Hicham Abou El Kheir died from multiple stab wounds a week ago after he was attacked in the Pimlico area by at least ten youths, who were reportedly armed with knives and swords.

“Four males have been arrested on suspicion of murder. One male and three females have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender,” Scotland Yard said in a statement.

“They all remain in custody at various police stations.”

A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday and was bailed to return in late March pending further inquiries.

“Police are retaining an open mind regarding any motive at this stage,” Scotland Yard said.

Police have set up a mobile police station at Lupus Street, the scene of the stabbing, and continue to appeal for witnesses.

Detectives are due to return to Lupus Street on Sunday evening to encourage people to come forward with information.

Hani, who lived on the nearby Churchill Gardens estate, was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital but died two hours after the stabbing.
