FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 24 (UPI) — Nate Washington received his pink slip Wednesday from the New England Patriots.
The 33-year-old had 48 catches for 661 yards and four touchdowns last season for the Houston Texans. He had a one-year, $1.065 million deal with the Patriots. The deal had a base salary of $985,000, with a $60,000 signing bonus and $20,000 workout bonus.
Last month, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reported that it would “take an injury ahead of him at WR” and Washington would have to “be lights out when he gets healthy” to make the 53 man roster.
The Patriots signed Washington in March, after releasing Brandon LaFell. Washington suffered a left hip injury in week 17 last season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
New England lists Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman, Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson, Chris Hogan, among others, at wide receiver on its unofficial depth chart.
