NEW YORK, Oct. 20 (UPI) — Sarah Jessica Parker says her reunion with ex-boyfriend Robert Downey, Jr., wasn’t as weird as people may think.

The 51-year-old actress said on Tuesday’s episode of The Howard Stern Show that she was happy to reconnect with the 51-year-old actor in 2015.

“It was really nice,” Parker told host Howard Stern. “It was surprisingly not weird … We were 18 when we met. Fundamentally, we’re sort of the same. I think the difference is he has a family and a wife and obviously his career is a massive thing.”

“I always felt very affectionate toward him,” she added. “I thought it ended well in a way. We broke up, but we were young and we broke up. I never didn’t care about his well-being. I never felt resentment or bitterness.”

Parker and Downey were together from 1984 to 1991 and split in large part due to the actor’s substance abuse issues at the time. Downey told Stern in April 2015 that he and Parker had recently reunited after expressing his desire to reach out in October 2014.

“Private stuff aside, we were able to spend some time together and it was really cool,” the star said in 2015. “I went over to her place and then we went down the street … to some tapas place.”

“Seeing her, I was like, ‘She’s so great and so cool and so funny and so in command.’ I got to meet her kids and I saw the way she and Matthew [Broderick] lived, and I respect both of them so much,” he added.

Parker married Broderick in 1997 and shares three children, son James and twin daughters Marion and Tabitha, with the actor. Downey, meanwhile, wed second wife Susan Downey in 2005 and shares two kids, son Exton and daughter Avri, with the producer.
