Laid-off casino worker Raymond Wychowanec kills wife, shoots self at N.J. hospital

CAMDEN, N.J., Aug. 27 (UPI) —

The body of a second man was found Wednesday at the home of a South Jersey man who killed his wife at a hospital and then attempted to take his own life.

Raymond Wychowanec, 63, of Glendora shot his wife, Denise, 62, during a morning visit at Kennedy University Hospital-Stratford, police said. He then used the gun on himself.

Police did not identify the man found dead at the couple’s house.

A neighbor said Denise Wychowanec had suffered for years from severe neck and back problems.

"He adored Denise," Laura McCafferty told the Inquirer. "He never acted like she was a burden."

Wychowanec had recently lost his job when an Atlantic City casino closed.

Gordon Bassing, a patient at Kennedy who was waiting to be discharged, said he heard muffled "pop-pop" noises.

"People were just flying all over the place," he said.

Wychowanec was taken by helicopter to Cooper Medical Center in Camden.
